Focus within Focus

Do you ever find yourself struggling to get on with the tasks you know you need to do? Perhaps you have already completed all the prepartion work, set aside the time but still you just can’t focus? Then getting into the right frame of mind will allow you to take action.

Then learning and understanding how to focus inside concentration or what is commonly termed as how to “focus within focus” will greatly improve your ability to get things done and help you to be more efficient.

Firstly we must identify the mental noise inside our mind and hush it, mental noises are the thoughts that go on inside our minds that cause our thinking to blur, they are the repetitive thoughts that serve no real purpose, our self talk chit chats with itself using idle thoughts that is a massive distraction that we never consider to train.

If you are trying to concentrate on something important, a certain task for example like writing a blog post and thoughts enter your mind about other totally irrelevant subjects like mowing the lawn or what to cook for dinner then tighter management of these thoughts must be controlled if you want to maximise your effort.

We generally assume to let this natural thinking process fill our minds with things that just pop into our heads, when if we really thought about it we can think thoughts to minimise this and pour strong emphasis into what we want to think about to get the most out of our time

It could be an intrusive phone ringing just to distract you away from what you are trying to do. Yes they are things that need to be considered but those thoughts have to be moved until the appropriate time.

Some noises come in the form of a daydream or allowing the mind to wander into the imagination to visualise yourself enjoying in the role of the hero from the film you watched the night before. To take control on these thoughts and train your mind to focus on the task at hand improves concentration and cleans out the clutter making way for true focus and a clear view of your next action.

Imagine a busy highway in the USA filled with traffic all speeding to its destination, think of each vehicle as a thought, light colored vehicles are positive thoughts dark coloured vehicles are negative. Big vehicles involve a lot of work small vehicles involve much less. The thoughts used in powerful concentration are the yellow cabs within that stream of traffic and what’s exciting is that we steer all of those vehicles of thought in our minds.

If we can discipline ourselves to align the yellow cab traffic and stream line it, our focus will be aimed to achieve. If we can do this as a habit our efficiency and effectiveness with our goals will become more precise and we will reach our objectives much quicker.
