Are you having a hard time getting motivated? It can be one of the toughest things in the world. You have the knowledge, you have the will, but no amount of mental persuasion can convince yourself to start a task.

Why do we as human beings find it so hard to get motivated? If we just got on and did the things we know we should be doing and stopped procrastinating all the time, everyone of us could be a success.

There are many different ways you can motivate yourself.

Pressure

Some people find pressure the key to getting going. Knowing that something just has to be done or there will be consequence is enough to get them to act. Things like deadlines and a boss breathing down their neck launches them into motion and gets them moving.

Another sort of pressure is the pressure of commitment. Going around telling everyone your going to do something can motivate you because you wouldn’t want to let them down or to lose face in front you’re your peers.

Reason

Reminding yourself why your doing something can also act as a trigger which sets you into action. Just stop to think for a while why you are doing what your doing. What’s the bigger picture? Perhaps you are putting off a project because you find it boring? When you stop to realise that really your doing it because your saving for something you really want. Keeping sight of your long term plans and dreams can often catapult you into starting.

Inspiration

This is a big one for a lot of people. Getting really inspired makes people eager to take action. This might be that you see someone else do it and think ‘I could do that’. It could also be in the form of something that was designed to inspire you. Perhaps a motivational video or song with up lifting and positive words that change your state.

Summary

There really are so many different ways to get motivated. Here we have only just skimmed the surface and looked at some of the basic thing that get people motivated. I hope by reading this you understand more about the driving forces that can change you from an uninspired negative state to a positive one.

A great way to motivate yourself consistently is with the use of affirmations. These can change your state sub-concisely and get you to start feeling more positive, which in turn will allow you to start seeing improvements and better results in all aspects of your life.
